Yoeme Carver

Carving culture. Carrying memory.

This site is being rebuilt with care.
It will return as a renewed space for Yoeme history, symbolism, and living tradition.

With care,

Louis David Valenzuela

The People

Yoeme means “The People.” Our ancestral homeland is along the Río Yaqui in Sonora, Mexico.

Our history includes displacement, violence, and survival. We have never surrendered our identity, our ceremonies, or our relationship to the land.

This work exists within that continuity.

The Work

Carving is not decorative. It is responsibility.

Passed through mentorship, ceremony, and lived experience, each piece carries memory and presence. The work continues because it must.

Symbolism

Color, shape, and form hold meaning—life and death, prayer and grief, nature and spirit.

Some knowledge is shared. Some is held.

A fuller explanation of Yoeme symbolism will be available when the site returns.
